Chorus Niagara Children’s Choir (CNCC) is a growing part of the Chorus Niagara family. CNCC offers children in the Niagara region the opportunity to develop their musical knowledge and share their love of music. Choir members receive a broad musical education which includes sight-singing, ear training, music theory and vocal technique. CNCC has four choirs for children ages 4-16: Training, Intermediate, Concert, and Chamber Choirs. These choirs sing separately and together, learning and performing music that is appropriate for their age and skill level. CNCC perform in their own concerts, as guests of Chorus Niagara, Niagara Symphony Orchestra and other arts organizations. They are frequent performers at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in St. Catharines.

The CNCC Concert Choir won a gold award at the national competition MusicFest Canada in 2018, and recently had the honour of performing with international opera star Measha Bergergossman in October 2020. They were invited to perform a cameo concert at the prestigious Podium national choral festival in May 2020. CNCC performed in the virtual music video “We Are the World” presented by Bravo Niagara Festival for the Arts, with over 150 prominent artists from across Canada.

Chorus Niagara Children’s Choir offers children in the Niagara region the opportunity to develop their musical knowledge, build relationships and share their love of music with others.

CNCC Plans During Covid-19

Chorus Niagara Children’s Choir is determined to bring a quality choral music education program to the children in the Niagara region in a safe environment. Due to the uncertainty surrounding Covid-19, our plan is to deliver a dynamic online program for the 2020/2021 season. We will continually evaluate the risks and assess if we are able to return to our rehearsal space. If public health deems it safe to sing onsite without risk of spreading COVID-19, we will return to our rehearsals at St. Catharines Mennonite Church.

The CNCC operates as a non-profit organization. We are still incurring music and artistic staff costs in order to provide the online program. There are additional costs for providing workshops and producing performance videos. We recognize the tuition fees may be a barrier to families effected by Covid-19. Please know that we are committed to making this quality program accessible to all families in our community. If you feel that the fees are a barrier for you, please contact our Managing Director Diana McAdorey (diana_mcadorey@yahoo.ca) for a bursary application.
