Chorus Niagara Children’s Choir (CNCC) is a growing part of the Chorus Niagara family. CNCC offers children in the Niagara region the opportunity to develop their musical knowledge and share their love of music. Choir members receive a broad musical education which includes sight-singing, ear training, music theory and vocal technique. CNCC has four choirs for children and youth ages 3-18: Training, Intermediate, Concert, and Chamber Choirs. These choirs sing separately and together, learning and performing music that is appropriate for their age and skill level.

CNCC perform in their own concerts and have had the honour of performing with international artists such as Measha Brueggergosman and Pavlo Simtikidis. The CNCC enjoy many performances with accomplished groups such as Chorus Niagara, the Niagara Symphony Orchestra and Bravo Niagara! Festival of the Arts. The CNCC Chamber Choir was invited to perform a cameo concert at the prestigious Podium national choral festival in May 2020, and the CNCC Concert Choir won a gold award at the national competition MusicFest Canada in 2018. CNCC performed in the virtual music video “We Are the World” presented by Bravo Niagara Festival for the Arts, with over 150 prominent artists from across Canada. They are frequent performers at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in St. Catharines.

Chorus Niagara Children’s Choir offers children in the Niagara region the opportunity to develop their musical knowledge, build relationships and share their love of music with others.

OUR CHOIRS

All children are welcome to sing with our dynamic choirs. Auditions are only required for the Chamber Choir.

 Training Choir | Ages 3 – 6

The Training Choir is a preparatory choir that focuses on teaching the rudiments of music and choral singing through movement, fun rhythm and pitch exercises and learning many fun songs that encourage good vocal technique. This is a full-year program from September to May, with the option of registering for one term. The Training Choir rehearses with the Intermediate Choir for 15 minutes each week. Collaborating with the older group supports the learning and facilitates the development of our youngest members. The Training Choir participates in annual CNCC concerts and some community events.

Schedule: Wednesdays 5:00 pm – 5:45 pm

Intermediate Choir | Ages 7 - 11

This exciting program is a steppingstone to the award-winning Concert and Chamber ensembles. The Intermediate Choir receives engaging instruction from highly qualified staff where they are introduced to a variety of choral repertoire, and strengthen their skills in choral singing, ear training, theory and music reading. Their learning continues at home with weekly theory and practice homework assignments. The Intermediate Choir performs for a number of concerts and events throughout the year including annual CNCC concerts, choral festivals and special events.

Choristers are introduced to a variety of choral repertoire where they learn to sing in different languages and become proficient in singing with multiple parts. They strengthen their skills in choral singing, ear training, theory and music reading in rehearsal, and continue with their learning at home with sight-singing, theory and practice assignments. The Concert Choir participates in numerous performances throughout the year as guests of other arts groups (Chorus Niagara, NSO), at festivals, CNCC concerts, community events, and competitions with some travel within Ontario.
